The first 3 things before you open doors for business…

When we start up as entrepreneurs, there usually is no 100% clarity about how massive this animal called ‘entrepreneurship’ is.

A lot of entrepreneurs I have been speaking to and coaching are telling me that when they started, they only just thought of manufacturing or buying and selling the products they know and love. Not many of them were prepared for the fact that you also have to wear the hats for the following: finances, people management, marketing, procurement, systems development & management, sales, customer relationship management, stakeholder management, and so on.

This is a lot!  Yes it is, so what are the key 3 things to do before launching the business?

My recommendation is:

1.       Understand your customer fully – do take time to do this (trust me, you won’t regret it)

2.       Understand your offer fully (based on the above)

3.       Get yourself a coach, who will assess which of the above long list you need to add at each point

I have seen entrepreneurs trading for 2 years and more and not making any money but moving money around monthly… only because they did not have guidance on what comes first once you open doors for business (in your specific case).
